Des Plaines is the French term for "of the plains." Our owner, Brittany Kerr, was inspired by her grandparents who moved to South Dakota from Garden Plain, Kansas to purchase real estate and build their farming operation independently. Coming from a family of various entrepreneurs, Brittany is a hands-on innovator that knows the value of hard work. She began working on the farm as soon as she was able, running a tractor every summer beginning at age 10. By 14, she had moved up to combine and spending long days as a part of the family's custom harvesting crew. Several years and adventures later, Brittany's real estate portfolio includes flipped houses, farm land and now commercial rental properties. She continues to live and pay taxes in SD, with a love for the town of Mitchell and a commitment to see Mitchell grow and her tenants achieve long term stability.
